Rachel Berger is one of Australia’s most highly regarded, adept, and adaptive comedic talents, working variously as a comedian, broadcaster, novelist, columnist, agitator and television entertainer.
She’s taken four solo shows to the Edinburgh Festival and her dynamic presence and engagingly sharp observations have made her an extremely popular performer both live and on television, across Australia and overseas. After 28 years of prowling the stage, there are no cows too sacred for this Berger. Her debut novel for Penguin, Whaddya Mean You’re Allergic To Rubber?, sold out faster than Judas.
"An hour with the unique Berger is like driving on a hot, dark night with high beam lights coming straight at you. She's alluring, seductive and dazzling. Two hours could be dangerous." The Canberra Times
"She is one of the sharpest comedians of either gender or hemisphere." The List, Scotland
"She could make the Sphinx crack a smile." The Sun Herald, Sydney

"It is the offbeat observation, the incisive knack of showing up everyday events for the ludicrous pantomimes they really are that separate the women from the girls ... In this department Rachel Berger is a real Star..." The Guardian, London
"Experience her machine gun delivery and ricocheting thoughts and you realise she must be as pumped as any AFL footballer." Stage Left
"She's loud, she's brash, she takes no prisoners ... she's just so excellent." The Australian
"Not only did you have the entire audience howling with laughter on the night, your experience, professionalism and guidance in the lead up to the event were invaluable to the committee. We are hugely appreciative of the amount of time and effort you put in to ensure that the whole night would be a success. We especially loved the way you thoroughly researched our industry before the night, and wove your understanding and insights into the performance. It was a rousing, hilarious and highly relevant kick-start to our conference." AUSTRALIAN MARKET AND SOCIAL RESEARCH SOCIETY CONFERENCE.
"I have received no shortage of positive feedback, praising your affability, quick wit and choice of comedic anecdotes which complemented the themes and tone of the day perfectly." SAM AFRA, CHAIRPERSON, ETHNIC COMMUNITIES’ COUNCIL OF VICTORIA
"And while the reality of the dialogue cannot be questioned it is the nuance that Berger elicits in her performance that mould this piece and transport it into the spectrum of creative art." Broadway World Reviews
"Re-enacting ten characters from her story in all, Berger’s jump between them is seamless, sometimes juggling conversations between two or three at the same time. Berger, as herself in stand – up mode, is the comic glue that holds the narrative together. It is a clever device on her part that seemingly breaks the fourth wall with the audience, easily allowing them to embrace her quirky stories and anecdotes. This is the Rachel Berger we know and love...it is five star theatre at its best." THEATREPEOPLE.com.au
"There are moments that have you laughing out loud and then suddenly gasping as you choke back tears. The first time that I saw this performed I was deeply moved. On this, my third visit, I am still deeply moved, still amazed and still feel that this was one of the better evenings I will spend in a theatre this year." Australian Stage
